A few weeks ago, all the year 5’s and 6’s went to the zoo, and studied two animals each, one a mammal and one of any other kind. I was as excited as a bumble bee who had just learnt how to fly! But I eventually settled on two animals, the Asian Elephant And the Silver-eye (a bird that's native to New Zealand and Australia, and is sometimes called the White-eye.) Before we went to

the zoo Miss McNae gave us two forms each, one for each animal that we were studying. First

we had to search the internet, and find some basic information about our chosen animals, then

we had to fill it onto the form, but still leave some space for new information we could find at the

zoo. The day we went to The zoo was as wet and damp as when an Elephant who had just had

a twenty hour long bath, in a giant Goldfish bowl! First we headed to the first Red Panda

enclosure, with two cute Red Pandas! Then we went to the NZCM building, where the gave

surgery and helped the animals who needed it to survive. It was warm and dry in there, so we

stayed there and ate morning tea. After we had finished eating, we watched as a lady a reptile

( I don’t remember the name of the creatures species ) a bath before he was to have scary

surgery! Everyone was watching intensely as she poured the water all over the adorable

creature, who was lifting up his head, just waiting for the water to hit him, and wet him even more

than he already was! And he was definitely drenched. Then we went back outside to where the rain

had calmed down. A little. Anyway we went back to looking at the animals, starting with the birds

including the kiwi and the Hyacinth Macaw. My favorite animal that we saw was definetly the Zebras,

they are my favorite animal after all. But I also liked some of the other animals that we saw, like the

Giraffe, the Seals, the Elephants, the Tiger and the Lions. We also saw lot’s of other animals, which I

all found interesting, but  in lots of different ways. Then we went back to the NZCM building to eat

lunch, and keep out of the rain, which was pouring down again. soon it was nearly time to meet up

with all the other groups, so we set off. Although it had been raining, I had still had a great time at the

zoo.
